I need to work on my impulse control. I am for the most part a very discipline person. But however, there are a few areas in my life that in need to work on controlling. I bought a new laptop this week when my current laptop has been in service for less than two years. I convinced myself that I NEEDED a new computer. I sounded like Linda to myself–but I NEED it. For the joke, go back to my “Boundary Hopscotch” entry from this summer. I had the money.. so it was me overspending. It is just there are a few things that I throw caution to the wind. Most of the times I screw myself over and spend more time playing damage control than it would have been to say no.
I have been getting better at saying no. But I get sucked up in the moment of many things and let the no walls down. I end up saying yes to things I should really be saying yes to in the first place. I am not worried about financial decisions because for the most part, you are not going to get my money. I even have a hard time giving my money to charity. Time–no problem. Oh you want money–that’s going to be a whole different story.
So my goal for the rest of the month is to practice more restraint when I feel my impulses acting in. I just need to find ways to harness those impulses so I don’t make a critical mistake that I am going to regret. I’ll be researching for good ways to keep them in. I always welcome suggestions too.
