Tonight my friend Sandy invited me and our other friends for dinner. It was a pleasurable dinner. However, I can only handle her husband is such short dosages. He’s a really nice guy, but he just has to be the authority on everything there is to know. I was mentioning to his that I was reading in a Hillary profile that she was once a board member to the evil empire (aka Wal-Mart). His response, “oh you should have asked me, I would have told you that.” WTF? Just say that normal “oh really” and move on.
After dinner was over, I was done. I couldn’t really handle the situation any longer. THANKFULLY, Sandy had her TV on and I got to watch the Price is Right’s million dollar special. It was like a message for me to leave the table. I was enjoying a glass of two buck chuck and TPIR… what could be better?
After they left, Sandy and I–well mostly me–watched this French foreign film. It told 18 different love stories in a short vignette. It was pretty neat because it showed love in 18 very different ways. How love could be expressed parent to child, lover to lover, friends, of yourself, and among strangers. Sandy didn’t like it at all. And I have to admit that at the beginning, I was skeptical. But after about the fifth or sixth one, I got it. I understood that love isn’t just hearts and hugs… it about being there for people and the bond of love between everyone.
Short but sweet tonight.
